Fee-Free TAFE Funding, Updated Criteria Now Includes NZ Citizens, New Courses Included @ TAFE Queensland
Many courses are available that are FEE-FREE.
To be eligible for Fee-Free TAFE funding, you must be:
an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency
a Queensland resident
aged 15 years or older and no longer at school
not currently enrolled in another qualification.
Students from the following priority groups are strongly encouraged to apply:
First Nations Australians
young people aged 17-24
people out of work or receiving income support
unpaid carers
women facing economic insecurity
women undertaking study in non-traditional fields
people with disability.
How I Found Out: I'm studying a diploma course (out of pocket) and received a text saying I qualify for Fee-Free TAFE Funding. Being a New Zealander, I can't get student or government loans. But it seems things have changed since I started on January 23, and now even New Zealanders like me can qualify. Lots of courses have become eligible for this, so it's definitely worth checking out.
Another bonus: Refunds and payment plans
If you’ve already paid course fees or signed up to a TAFE Queensland payment plan, your fees will be refunded and any future payment plan instalments will be cancelled.
